History of ILDC
The history of the ILDC started back in the early nineteen eighties when a teacher recognized the need to understand intrinsically, "where people are at" regarding their attitudes, thoughts, feelings and their own actions or behaviors. Although the pilot programs consisted of "at risk" students, offenders and ex-offenders, it became truly apparent that all people could benefit from the ILDC.
The over-all philosophy of the ILDC is to help all people get in touch with their inner self and to help them to set up a "Life Inventory Analysis." This process will enable people to understand, appreciate and build on their strengths, and help them deal with and over-come their weaknesses for a healthier future.
West Michigan AIME Association believes humanity is made up of the following elements:
- Attitudes
- Perceptions
- Thoughts/Thinking
- Assumptions
- Visions/Dreams/Images
- Emotions/Feelings
- Character Attributes
- Values & Beliefs
- Personality Traits
- Behaviors
- Relationships
- Love/Fear
These twelve elements have become the foundational topics that make up the ILDC Initiatives.
Through self discovery and newly developed insights, the study and understanding of the preceding twelve topics will help students to enhance, nurture and improve the following thirteen personal outcomes:
